Summary of action:
The Pre-Construction Submittals & Technical Designer is responsible for creating high-quality shop drawings and assembling professional submittal packages that support both sales and operations. This role plays a critical part in ensuring projects are clearly defined, easy to execute, and aligned with how work is actually performed in the field.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working in AutoCAD, takes pride in clean and consistent output, and values simplicity over overcomplication. Success in this role means producing accurate, buildable drawings quickly, reducing revisions, and improving alignment across teams.
Key Responsibilities:
AutoCAD Drafting Create clear and accurate shop drawings, layouts, elevations, and basic details
Translate plans and takeoffs into simple, buildable visuals
Maintain consistency using templates, blocks, and standard drawing practices
Ensure drawings are easy to understand and aligned with field installation
Submittal Packages Assemble complete submittal packages including shop drawings, product data, and supporting documentation
Ensure all submittals align with project specifications and requirements
Manage revisions and updates based on internal review and customer feedback
Preconstruction Support Partner with estimating to confirm scope, materials, and project intent
Identify missing or unclear information and raise questions early
Support priority bids with fast, accurate drawing output
Operations Alignment Ensure drawings reflect how projects are actually built and installed
Incorporate feedback from field and operations teams into drawing standards
Help reduce confusion, rework, and field issues through clear documentation
Standardization & Continuous Improvement Develop and maintain drawing templates, libraries, and standards
Improve consistency and efficiency across all drawing output
Contribute to scalable processes within the preconstruction function
