Overview
Insight Global is seeking a Project/Mechanical Engineer to sit onsite in Batavia, IL. This position spans project execution, process scale-up, and on-site facility support, with responsibilities ranging from pilot-scale build-outs to development of a Full-Scope Integrated Complex via a traditional EPC execution model. Reports to the Director of Engineering and collaborates closely across process development, manufacturing, and R&D teams.
Qualified Candidates must be able to work on our client's W2 without sponsorship now and in the future.
ResponsibilitiesThe project management responsibilities of this role span multiple project scales and complexities:
- Support engineering, R&D, and operations teams in building out new pilot operations at the Batavia facility.
- Develop intimate understanding of unit operations
- Manage in-house projects with support from local contractors and OEMs.
- Improve schedule and cost compliance while maintaining a pragmatic, “build-first” execution approach.
- Serve as an individual contributor where needed, filling gaps in:
- Fixed and rotating equipment design
- Layout and plot planning
- Structural support
- Mechanical and piping interconnections
- Lead project development of a commercial-scale facility through a traditional EPC-driven approach.
- Work in close partnership with process engineering during FEED to deliver a financeable project.
- Own or strongly influence:
- Construction planning
- EPC, licensor, and consultant coordination
- Cross-discipline and OSBL/ISBL interfaces
- 7+ years of experience in Mechanical Engineering focused on capital projects within a chemical/hazardous material manufacturing setting.
- 4+ years of experience in on-site, client side, project engineering support is preferred
- B.S. in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field.
- Direct project management of complex project(s) encompassing multiple unit operations and OSBL scope, ideally spanning from FEL1 through commissioning.
- Experience working with external SMEs across engineering disciplines, as well as OEMs, Mechanical Shops, Fabricators, and others to retrofit existing PVs and piping systems.
- Knowledge and experience with relevant codes (ASME VIII, NFPA, etc) is preferred.
Compensation: $130,000 to $190,000 per year annual salary. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
