Pay Range: $21.26-$25.93.

The Accelerator Directorate Mechanical Support and Target Systems Departments pursue highly innovative research and development of target material, electromagnetic Horns, and associated instrumentation along with development of beamline vacuum components for accelerators to advance Fermilab’s scientific mission and help define the laboratory’s strategic direction. They operate accelerator test facilities and develop and build next generation accelerators and detectors using groundbreaking technologies, while educating and training the next generation of physicists and engineers.

Fermilab’s AD Mechanical Support and Target Systems Departments seeks a Mechanical Engineering Cooperative Education Student.

• Full-time undergraduate enrollment in a 4‑year program at a U.S. college or university for the duration of program participation
• Registered in the academic institution’s cooperative education program
• Sophomore academic standing at minimum
• 18 years of age at time of employment
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
• Commitment to completing a minimum of three semesters or four quarters of work at Fermilab with alternating periods of full‑time study
• Knowledge of Mechanical Engineering theory
• Skills in CAD and Microsoft Office
• Must be able to perform technical work and analysis
• Eligible to work in the United States
• Proof of health insurance
