The expected hiring range for this position is $15.00-$30.00. Please note that the pay range information is a general guideline only. About the Role

Fermilab’s Infrastructure Services Division seeks a Seasonal On-Call Groundskeeper to join the Grounds Maintenance Group in the Roads & Grounds Department. Under direct supervision, you will perform tasks to maintain Fermilab site roads, grounds, and related facilities.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Performs landscape maintenance activities including trimming, pruning, and snow removal.
• Maintains and cleans the underground stormwater drainage systems and performs heavy physical labor.
• May be required to work mandatory overtime, with no guaranteed minimum hours. May be required to work any time between 4 am and 10 pm.

Skills and Attributes for Success

• Must be 18 years of age with a valid state‑issued driver’s license.
• Must have the ability to lift 50 lbs.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two or more years of groundskeeping experience.

Applicable Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Previous experience in landscape construction and maintenance, or heavy equipment operations and maintenance, is desirable.
• Previous experience in snow removal operations; must be available to respond promptly to snow removal at all hours.
• Basic computer skills (MS Office).
• Ability to work independently and harmoniously in a group setting.
• Ability to abide by all environment, safety and health regulations.
• Willingness to respect, understand and value individual differences that embody laboratory principles of diversity and inclusion.

Human factors:
Heavy lifting, repetitive motion, sitting, standing, vibrating equipment, work outdoors;
Chemical factors: combustion engines;
Physical factors: environment (cold/hot/wet/dry), high noise level;
Personal protection equipment: eye/face/foot/hand/hearing protection;
Biological factors: animals, insects, poisonous plants.

  This is an onsite role, and the candidate must be able to work from our Batavia office.
