Warehouse Manager: 1st Shift

Full-time.

Location:

Batavia, IL. Shift: Monday–Friday, 1st Shift. Salary: $80,000-$95,000 per year (based on experience and qualifications). Company:

Position Summary

The Warehouse Manager will serve as a hands‑on leader responsible for daily warehouse operations while actively contributing alongside the team. This role combines people leadership with direct involvement in shipping, receiving, and warehouse tasks to ensure efficient support of manufacturing and timely, accurate fulfillment of customer orders.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Oversee and direct shipping and receiving operations, including the receipt of raw and non‑raw materials and the preparation of finished goods shipments.
  • Assign work and provide instruction to team members involved in shipping, receiving, unloading deliveries, and order fulfillment.
  • Oversee the receipt and unloading of bulk tank wagons.
  • Ensure all shipping documentation, packaging, and related activities comply with applicable DOT and governmental regulations.
  • Ensure shipping and receiving transactions are accurately recorded in the ERP system.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain processes to ensure accurate inventory records for raw materials and finished goods.
  • Apply continuous improvement principles to enhance departmental operations, workflow efficiency, and product movement.
  • Responsible for scheduling to count, organize the floor, verify discrepancies, and reconcile final data within the company’s ERP system during the Batavia Facility’s Annual Physical Inventory.
  • Conduct cost analysis of departmental activities as required.
  • Coordinate and conduct departmental training, ensuring required regulatory and compliance training remains current.
  • Ensure team compliance with housekeeping, safety, and environmental standards; promote and model safe work practices.
  • Oversee proper handling and disposal of hazardous waste in accordance with established procedures and required training.
  • Enforce safety rules for all direct reports, including coaching, additional safety training as needed, and stopping and reporting unsafe conditions or behaviors.
  • Interview, hire, discipline, and terminate employees as required, in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Conduct semi‑annual employee performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualification Requirements
  • Associate degree from a two‑year technical college or a four‑year university preferred; equivalent experience strongly considered.
  • Two to four years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred, ideally within chemicals, coatings, or a regulated industry.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), ERP systems, and standard office equipment.
  • Working knowledge of DOT, IATA, and hazardous materials (HAZMAT) shipping regulations.
  • Experience managing domestic and international shipments.
  • Forklift certification is strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of freight rates, load planning procedures, and weight limitations.
  • Strong math and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team‑oriented environment and build strong working relationships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong team‑building capabilities.

  • Regularly required to communicate verbally and audibly in a manufacturing or operational setting.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, and move throughout the work area.
  • Regular use of hands and fingers to handle, manipulate, and control objects, tools, or equipment.
  • Required to sit, balance, stoop, and occasionally reach above shoulder level.
  • Occasional operation of machinery using foot controls.
  • May be required to climb, balance, and reach overhead as part of job duties.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 65 lbs.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Safety shoes, safety glasses, and flame‑retardant uniforms or lab coats are required in production areas.
  • Respirators and ear plugs are required for specific production processes.
