Description:
Unitizer Operator
Responsible for safely and efficiently operating unitizing equipment to compress, strap, and secure finished product for shipment.
Reports to:Production Supervisor
Conditions:- Work in a production floor setting.
- Long periods of standing required.
- Lift up to 50 lbs.
- Operate unitizer/strapper machinery to bundle and secure corrugated boxes.
- Monitor compression settings and strap tension to ensure load stability without damaging the product.
- Place bottom sheets (dunnage) and top sheets/tier sheets manually or monitor automatic insertion to meet customer specifications.
- Verify that load tags match the physical product and production schedule requirements.
- Change strapping coils and thread the machine as needed to maintain continuous operation.
- Inspect outgoing loads to ensure they are square and properly aligned.
- Troubleshoot minor machine malfunctions and clear jams safely.
- Adhere to documented policies and procedures defining safe and proper operation of equipment, as well as the safety concerns of people, product, materials and facilities.
- Accurately complete required documentation as well as daily checklists for machine operation characteristics.
- Identify problems with job related equipment.
- Verify and maintain good housekeeping procedures to ensure a safe and clean work environment.
- Perform daily equipment checks.
- Ensure that product is prepared in a safe, stable and efficient manner.
- Identify potential or existing non-conforming conditions or material.
- Support and adhere to required, documented and defined procedures and work instructions including, but not limited to: food safety programs, OSHA regulations and PPE as designated.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by Management.

- Participate in requested or required training.
- Follow precise instructions.
- Maintain excellent documentation skills.
- Maintain knowledge of safety measures needed for machine operation.
- Develop corrugated industry knowledge.
- High school education or equivalent, previous corrugated experience preferred.
