Role DescriptionThis full-time, on-site Sales Design Consultant role is based in Batavia, IL. The Sales Design Consultant works directly with customers in the showroom, guiding them through flooring and home design options, understanding their needs, and recommending products and design solutions that align with their style, budget, and project scope.
Daily responsibilities include greeting and qualifying customers, preparing design proposals and quotes, managing sales from initial consultation through closing, and coordinating with installation and operations teams to ensure smooth project delivery. The role also involves maintaining product knowledge, updating showroom displays, following up on leads, and using company systems to track customer interactions and sales activities.
Qualifications- Strong customer service skills, including active listening, clear communication, and a consultative approach.
- Proven sales experience with a track record of meeting goals, closing deals, and building long-term customer relationships.
- Knowledge of interior design principles and the ability to translate customer preferences into cohesive design solutions.
- Familiarity with furniture, furnishings, flooring, color palettes, and room layouts.
- Comfortable working in a retail showroom and using POS or CRM systems.
- Strong attention to detail with measurements, estimates, and documentation.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively with sales, design, and installation teams.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; education in design, business, or a related field is a plus.
- Previous experience in flooring, home improvement, furniture, or related retail industries is preferred but not required.
