Penske Logistics seeks a proven leader to supervise drivers at one of our locations. The Operations Supervisor provides direction at a single location, leading staff to ensure customer requirements are achieved while meeting Penske goals and objectives.

Schedule: Wednesday–Saturday 6:00 PM–6:00 AM

Supporting: 65 Drivers

Experience: Transportation background, strong communicator, goal‑oriented, detail‑oriented, demonstrated leadership skills.

Salary: $65 000 – $80 000 annually. In addition to base salary, you will receive a bi‑weekly shift differential of $205.00 for working the third shift ($5 330 annually).

Position Summary

Provide operational leadership to individual contributors and hourly workforce to ensure execution of daily tasks and activities—including driver deliveries, loading/unloading trailers, and customer service operations—in a manner consistent with company services and cost objectives. Supervise most processes directly, including people, systems, customer needs, and equipment. Manage workforce and equipment scheduling, perform performance management of direct reports, make corrective action and disciplinary decisions up to written warning level, participate in hiring, customer meetings, and operate bonus eligibility based on performance (up to 12% of base).

Responsibilities People
  • Ensure all supervisors and associates are trained, competent, and understand how their work relates to customer business objectives.
  • Communicate performance standards that are specific and measurable.
  • Interview hourly associates and recommend hires.
  • Monitor attendance, productivity, and other performance standards; provide coaching and counseling to associates.
  • Motivate and engage associates by focusing on team accomplishments and recognition.
Operations
  • Supervise logistics operations including customer service, freight loading/unloading, dispatch, and documentation procedures.
  • Conduct team meetings.
  • Evaluate and recommend changes in work methods to increase dispatch productivity; assist in new associate training.
  • Provide relief coverage when associates take time‑off or are absent.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of the site’s operating systems for compliance and exception resolution.
  • Complete all records and reports accurately and timely.
Finance
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies such as tracking fuel consumption, returns, and damages.
  • Understand decision‑making and profitability relationships.
  • Manage associates’ working hours to minimize overtime and meet productivity targets.
Safety
  • Align day‑to‑day activities with the location safety strategy.
  • Provide communication, training, feedback, and direction to ensure safe performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies and company policies.
  • Conduct safety observations.
Growth / Customer Experience
  • Understand and exceed location‑specific customer goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrate commitment to customer success.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities.
Fleet / Assets
  • Plan work assignments to use fleet equipment effectively.
  • Educate associates on safe and efficient equipment operation.
  • Coordinate with vendors for equipment maintenance.
  • Work with Penske Truck Leasing to keep preventative maintenance schedules complete.
  • Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor.
