Digital Literacy Program Educator
Cornell Cooperative Extension of Genesee County has an opening for a full-time Digital Literacy Program Educator working from the Batavia, NY office. The CCE of Genesee County Digital Literacy Program Educator provides administrative and program support for the digital literacy skills program which aims to improve participants lives and communities through electronic interactions and other digital literacy skills.
Required qualifications:
- Associate or equivalent education. GED/High School Diploma with one-year transferrable program/functional experience may substitute.
- Experience relevant to the role of the position.
- Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
- Ability to meet acceptable background check standards.
- Ability to work flexible hours, which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.
- Ability to clearly communicate (speak, read, and write proficiently) in English.
- Ability to communicate effectively, clearly, and tactfully through verbal, written and electronic methods.
- Ability to work independently, organize workload, handle administrative detail, work under pressure, and establish priorities according to Association requirements.
- Proficiency with windows-based software including use of the internet and Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Ability to work in a typical office environment which may include lifting, moving, and/or transporting office supplies, work related materials, and equipment with or without accommodation.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in record keeping, data management, customer service, and general office functions.
- Experience with web site support/maintenance.
- Knowledge of Cooperative Extension programs.
Essential functions:
- Program delivery - 75%
- Deliver high quality, digital literacy education and skill instruction using established curriculums at sites throughout the county as designated by the digital literacy program coordinator.
- Utilize a variety of educational methods which may include direct teaching, group experiences, media, newsletters, electronic technology, internet, and distance learning to deliver program.
- Serve as subject matter resource utilizing existing subject matter resources.
- Collaborate with community agencies as requested or required to facilitate programs and activities.
- Assist with ensuring a safe, positive, and supportive atmosphere during all meetings and activities.
- Represent CCE before the public, community leaders, government officials, Cornell, or other land grant universities in a professional manner as part of program delivery.
- Administrative management - 5%
- Assist with solving problems and resolving conflicts that arise within the program utilizing appropriate policies and procedures and with supervisor guidance as needed.
- Assist Supervisor by performing administrative tasks in guiding the implementation of the program budget (i.e., track expenses, provide support for purchasing).
- Assist in identifying ways to reduce costs and maximize existing resources within the Association.
- Administrative coordination/operation - 15%
- Maintain effective, positive relationships with the public through a variety of contacts including walk-in office visitors, telephone, email, and written correspondence.
- Process and maintain class enrollment and special event/program registrations and monies per established policy ensuring accuracy, security and confidentiality of all data and information.
- Create and maintain organized and up-to-date program and related administrative files and databases.
- Assist with preparation of program support material as requested.
- Schedule and coordinate meetings, appointments, and special events as needed.
- Provide backup and support to the overall Association and other program areas as needed.
- Prepare and submit accurate expense reports, mileage reports, receipts/supporting documentation, and/or vouchers in a timely manner per established policy and procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality of all information and data collected, accessed, and/or maintained.
- Provide data and information to assist with preparation of reports, impact statements, and success stories for funders, advisory committees, Board, and others as requested.
- Transport self and/or program materials/resources necessary for performing position responsibilities.
- Professional improvement - 5%
- In cooperation with the Supervisor, jointly develop and pursue a professional development plan as a means to increase competencies relative to position accountabilities and to address changes in programming and association priorities.
- Participate in all required orientation, training, and/or in-service meetings and events as scheduled/required.
