CNA Position

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct, hands-on care and support to residents. The CNA works under the supervision of licensed nursing staff. They assist residents with activities of daily living while maintaining safety, comfort, dignity, and independence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and personal hygiene.
• Assist with mobility, transfers, repositioning, and ambulation using appropriate equipment and safe patient-handling techniques.
• Help residents with meals and feeding as needed and monitor food and fluid intake.
• Obtain and document vital signs, weights, intake/output, and other basic resident information as directed.
• Observe residents for changes in physical condition, behavior, mental status, skin integrity, or overall well-being and promptly report concerns.
• Provide incontinence and toileting care and assist with maintaining resident cleanliness and comfort.
• Assist with turning and repositioning residents to help maintain skin integrity and prevent pressure injuries.
• Answer call lights and respond promptly to residents' needs.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized resident environment.
• Follow established infection-control, safety, and resident-care procedures.
• Support residents' dignity, privacy, independence, and individual preferences.
• Communicate effectively with residents, families, nurses, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team.
• Provide compassionate care to a primarily geriatric/veteran population, including residents with complex medical, cognitive, behavioral, or mobility needs.
• Complete required documentation accurately and timely.
• Perform additional CNA duties within the scope of practice as assigned by the supervising nurse.
