Position: Street Light Tech - Non-union CDL Required

Streetlight Technician

This is an entry-level position that requires no prior experience. The company provides paid on‑the‑job training and a weekly pay schedule. It is an outdoor role. All tools, uniforms, and personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety vests, safety glasses, work gloves, etc.) are supplied.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
  • Operate aerial devices to install and maintain streetlights and related equipment.
  • Operate heavy and light construction equipment, including digger derrick trucks, bucket trucks, backhoes, air compressors, generators, and hand tools.
  • Maneuver construction equipment safely during all work functions.
  • Excavate ground areas for setting poles or foundations.
  • Maintain accurate logs of job processes and stay organized.
  • Collaborate with locating companies to identify underground hazards.
  • Interpret construction plans, blueprints, and as‑built drawings and execute them accurately.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with traffic control companies, utility partners, and all other stakeholders.
  • Communicate openly with all levels of management about all job functions.
  • Work safely near energized and hazardous equipment.
  • Assist first responders on emergency jobs such as knockdowns.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Proficient in the use of tools such as a voltmeter, power tools, and hand tools.
  • Availability for a 40‑hour per week schedule; overtime and weekend hours may be required depending on weather.
  • Knowledge of power delivery and the ability to identify power delivery components.
  • Capability to operate heavy equipment safely on and off the road.
Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
License & Certifications
  • Valid DOT Medical Card required.
  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required.
Travel Requirements

Travel may be required only during emergency storm work.

Physical Requirements
  • RARE (≤10%):
    Sitting, kneeling, crawling, color vision, climbing stairs.
  • OCCASIONAL (≤33%):
    Stooping, squatting, climbing on/off truck, climbing ladders, pushing, reading, lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • FREQUENT (≤66%):
    Carrying, pulling, balancing, body‑twisting, hearing/speech range, lifting, lifting up to 10 lbs., manual dexterity, speaking clearly, walking.
  • CONTINUOUS (≤100%):
    Standing, sense of touch, gripping, seeing, reaching, range of motion, depth perception, lifting 10–50 lbs., climbing.
Safety

Due to the hazardous nature of the industry, employees must have sufficient eyesight to judge distance and coordination of equipment and tools; maintain concentration for extended periods; endure weather exposure while completing work assignments; wear personal protective equipment as necessary; enter and exit vehicles multiple times a day; traverse various terrain; perform duties throughout a standard 8‑ or 10‑hour day; communicate with others;

read, write, and comprehend written and verbal instructions; handle conflict professionally.
