At Legacy Hospice, we believe that volunteers are the heart of hospice care. We are seeking a compassionate and organized Volunteer Coordinator to lead our volunteer program. In this role, you will plan, coordinate, and manage all volunteer services—making a difference in the lives of patients, families, and communities we serve.
What You'll Do- Recruit, train, and supervise hospice volunteers (both patient-facing and administrative)
- Conduct volunteer orientations and maintain personnel files
- Attend interdisciplinary team meetings and develop volunteer care plans based on patient needs
- Match patients and caregivers with appropriate volunteers and coordinate ongoing assignments
- Utilize online platforms and social media to enhance volunteer recruitment
- Track volunteer hours and maintain documentation in compliance with regulatory standards
- Ensure monthly 5% volunteer cost savings goal is met or exceeded
- Act as a public liaison, attending community events, building partnerships, and promoting hospice services
- Participate in quality assessment and performance improvement initiatives
- Provide compassionate education and support to patients and their families
- Maintain professional development and participate in required trainings
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (Humanities or Liberal Arts preferred)
- Minimum 1 year of experience in hospice, home health, or similar healthcare field preferred
- At least 1 year of supervisory or volunteer management experience preferred
Proven ability to coordinate programs and build community relationships - Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Able to work independently and flex hours for community events (including evenings/weekends)
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and digital communication tools
- Valid driver’s license, current auto insurance, and reliable transportation
