Position Overview
Join our Head Start team and help children and families thrive. Midcoast Maine Community Action is seeking an Education Manager to lead high‑quality early learning services, support education staff, and strengthen classroom practices across our Head Start program.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the Head Start Education Content Area and support high‑quality services for children and families.
- Supervise, coach, train, and evaluate education staff.
- Partner with staff, families, Policy Council, and community teams to support individualized services and school readiness.
- Use data, observations, and continuous improvement practices to strengthen programming.
- Support curriculum implementation, classroom practices, and professional development.
- Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or related field required; master’s preferred.
- Three years of related experience required; five preferred.
- Experience with curriculum planning, teacher coaching, supervision, classroom support, and early childhood best practices.
- Strong communication, organization, data use, and collaboration skills.
- Administrative, grant, and child assessment database experience preferred.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, adequate automobile insurance per state standards, and access to reliable transportation; compliance with MMCA policies pertaining to safe vehicle operation required.
- Prior to starting employment, must be able to pass fingerprinted criminal background, child protective services, sex offender registry, and motor vehicle record checks, as required by state and federal childcare licensing regulations, that indicate no previous record of involvement with child abuse or exploitation and no disqualifying criminal or motor vehicle record that would preclude working with children.
Rate of pay will be dependent upon experience and other qualifications. This full‑time, benefits‑eligible position includes health, dental and vision insurance; employer‑paid life and disability insurance; paid time off; 13 paid holidays plus 2 floating holidays; professional development support; and a 403(b) retirement plan with agency contribution after one year.
