SAFETY & Occupational HEALTH Specialist Security Clearance

Position: SAFETY & OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST with Security Clearance
Duties
* You will most often self-initiate and will encompass known SSBA ashore and Ships Force afloat safety and occupational health areas and spend 40% on board vessels or in a contractor's facility.
* You will review and interpret existing and new OS/H regulations and policies to determine their applicability to SSBA personnel and ships force operations.
* You will assist in the development and issue local safety and health instructions for control of hazardous materials.
* You will perform research and develop resolutions of occupational health problems assigned by higher authority or recognized locally.
* You will develop surveillance criteria and audit plans for conducting audits to determine the effectiveness of the SSB and contractor's OS/H program.
* You will develop new employee indoctrination and indoctrinate SSBA and Ships Force personnel in SSBA and off-site OS/H programs as well providing OS/H regulatory and higher authority guidance.
* You will research and procure personal protective equipment to limit employee's exposure to identified hazards.
* You will be responsible for the institution of:
Hearing and Sight Conservation programs, Class "A" Mishap Investigations, Personal Fall Arrest System program, Ergonomics program and the Explosive Safety Observer program.
* You will conduct scheduled and unscheduled surveys of accident, fire, mishaps, incident investigations and provide findings to the ES/H Manager. Requirements Conditions of employment

* Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
* Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
* You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final SECRET security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
* This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time. Qualifications For GS-11:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: conducting inspections of ship or industrial workplaces, processes, or products to identify and recommend solutions of potential hazards for compliance in maritime construction and repair facilities.

OR For GS-09:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: assisting senior specialist with conducting inspections of ship or industrial workplaces, processes, or products to identify and recommend solutions of potential hazards for compliance in maritime construction and repair facilities.
