Key Responsibilities

Safety Leadership:

  • Enforce safety policies and procedures, with a focus on housekeeping and personal safety.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance workplace safety and foster a culture on continuous improvement.
  • Ensure team members complete all safety training assigned.
  • Ensure jobs on schedule have been properly vetted with the appropriate level Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) highlighting the work hazards identified within the assigned safety envelope.
  • Ensure assigned crews are following House-Keeping Best Practices at their assigned job sites.
  • Enforce BIW’s PPE requirements.
  • Ensure “safe” work plans, equipment, and job scope are prepared prior to scheduling.

Project Execution:

  • Oversee the management of all facilities work orders, including;
    Self Performed Capital, M&R, PM's and Safety Work Orders.
  • Provide leadership to Facilities Planners, to ensure they are properly trained to efficiently perform their tasks and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Develops weekly schedules for all Facilities Trades.
  • Use established Resource Planning Techniques to ensure crew plans align with crew capacity.
  • Work closely with the Facilities Engineering Section Manager to understand the forecast of capital and major maintenance work, including ensuring jobs are ready to schedule (plans, material availability, and customer).
  • Assist planners in determining job priorities.
  • Ensure workforce is engaged in the planning process, seeks input, and follows through.
  • Ensure all work orders are closed out appropriately and within required timelines.

  • Implement the resource plan in accordance with the operational plans for direct, capital, and indirect funding.

Management:

  • Manage the overall development and performance monitoring of the Plan of the Week.
  • Set appropriate team expectations for completion of goals.
  • Ensure accountability of task and goal completion.
  • Support Facilities Department metric(s) and established goals.
  • Ensure all work performed is done in compliance with local state and federal regulatory guidelines.
  • Ensure employees in functional areas follow established procedures and generate finished work products on schedule and within budgetary constraints while ensuring customer expectations are met.

Training and Development:

  • Drive training programs to ensure trade planners are trained for the tasks assigned.
  • Ensure Procedures and Process Controls are well-documented and communicated to the personnel charged with executing the tasks.
  • Assist in the education of the Maintenance Management Team and operations personnel.

Team Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work cross-departmentally with multiple functions/organizations in an effort to achieve Production goals.
  • Collaborate with Project and Functional Managers to mitigate project/job execution delays.
  • Partner with Facilities subject matter experts to identify efficiency, cost savings, and reliability opportunities to minimize equipment downtime and mitigate interruptions to Production.
  • Work closely with the customer to ensure quality, schedule, and safety expectations are met.
  • Work with various functional areas in evaluating existing processes and identifying process improvement opportunities to drive business results (i.e. cost reductions, operational efficiencies, adequate controls).

Continuous Improvement:

  • Participate in Business Operating System (BOS) principles and productivity enhancements.
  • Focus on critical equipment reliability opportunities.
  • Focus on the quality of trade’s workmanship to ensure quality standards.
  • Incorporate the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) model to ensure sustainment of the improvements established.
  • Identify, analyze, and review maintenance problems in concert with Facilities Engineering as well as review the Maintenance Management Program as necessary to improve and enhance plant and field operations.
  • Make changes and adjustments to the work plans after collaborating with the Utilities/Mechanical Section Managers.
  • Recommend Resource Plan adjustments to Facilities Managers based on work plan urgency.
  • Evaluate operations effectiveness through customer feedback and established metrics.
