RSU 1 is seeking a Payroll Specialist for the Central Office who has strong attention to detail. This is a year-round, part-time position (20 hours per week) with a July-June contract year. The position falls under full social security in RSU 1 and is not eligible for Maine Public Employees Retirement System. Salary will be based upon experience.

Payroll Specialist
RSU 1 is seeking a Payroll Specialist for the Central Office who has strong attention to detail. This is a year-round, part-time position (20 hours per week) with a July-June contract year. The position falls under full social security in RSU 1 and is not eligible for Maine Public Employees Retirement System. Salary will be based upon experience.
- Collect and input biweekly payroll information for all employees
- Prepare W-2 forms and year-end tax reports
- Prepare all state and federal reports (i.e., Internal Revenue System quarterlies, Maine Public Employees Retirement System (MainePERS), Social Security, Department of Labor and Maine Internal Revenue)
- Maintain records and make payments for health, dental, life insurance, disability, workers' compensation, medical/dependent reimbursement and 403(b)
- Run payroll checks and prepare for distribution
- Process and transmit direct deposit for payroll and maintain direct deposit records
- Maintain records of absence: sick leave, personal leave and vacation leave
- Maintain records and make payments for tax levies and garnishments
- Assist the outside auditors by providing payroll related analysis and information
- Work with Business Manager in preparation of payroll budget
- Work with Business Manager on information for various reports (i.e. annual salary updates/benefit addendum) and perform other various payroll functions as required
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
- Payroll experience preferred
- Ability to work as part of a team and also independently
- Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to handle confidential information
- Strong technology skills
- Experience working with Tyler Technologies Pro Fund financial software and Microsoft Excel, preferred
- Must hold or have the ability to acquire a Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) from Maine Department of Education
