Shipfitter; Grades 4

Job Pay

The pay range for this position ranges from $28.39/hr - $29.48/hr.

This is a mid-level experience position to work in the shipfitting trade. Applicants will be assigned any ship fitter trade function with limited assistance from a more experienced ship fitter.

• Fabrication of items made from sheet metal, steel, stainless steel, and aluminum such as hull outfit foundations, tanks, small assemblies, and bulkhead assemblies using sketches and drawings.
• Installing items on units or on ships including: setup of mock stations, layout and installation of shell/deck stringers, layout and installation of back up structure, layout and installation of hull outfit foundations using assembly sketches and blueprints.
• Fabricating and installing major equipment foundations using fabrication sketches and drawings.

• Preferred:
  High School Diploma or GED.
• Preferred:
  Minimum 1 year technical or vocational training in steel fabrication or carpentry trade.

• Required:
  
  Minimum 1 year experience in metal fabrication or installation.

  Must be able to read blueprints in detail.
• Required:
  
  Must have experience working with metal, hand tools, and power tools.

  Must meet the requirements of the Ship fitter physical task analysis.
