The RSU 1 Special Education Department is seeking a Bus Aide(s) to support our students with specialized transportation while they are being transported to and from school. The individual in this position reports to the Special Education Director and Building Principal (or designee). Training will be provided.

The RSU 1 Special Education Department is seeking a Bus Aide(s) to support our students with specialized transportation while they are being transported to and from school. The individual in this position reports to the Special Education Director and Building Principal (or designee). Training will be provided.

• Hours range from approximately 6:45 a.m.
  
  -8:30 a.m.
  * and 1:45 p.m.
  
  -3:30 p.m., Monday-Friday, on days that school is in session.
  * One hour later on Wednesday AM only.
• This is an hourly position based on the district’s hourly wage scale.

• Ensure student safety during loading, unloading, and transport.
• Provide supervision, redirection, and behavioral support, as needed.
• Assist with securing safety belts, wheelchairs, or other adaptive equipment.
• Maintain positive, respectful communication with students, bus driver, parents, and school staff.

• High School diploma or equivalent, required.
• Current Criminal History Records Check (CHRC)
• Experience working with children, preferably those with special needs, is preferred.
• Ability to remain calm, patient, and flexible in various situations.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Physical ability to assist students with mobility or safety needs, if required.

Pay Range: $21.96-$29.66 per hour, depending on experience
