Accounting Assistant

Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to support day-to-day financial operations for a healthcare-focused organization in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This contract position will play an important role in maintaining accurate records, assisting with payment processing, and helping keep accounting activities organized and on schedule. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with invoices, reconciliations, and financial data while using Quick Books to support efficient and accurate reporting.

Responsibilities:

- Process incoming invoices, review supporting documentation, and code entries accurately before submission for payment

- Assist with accounts payable activities by preparing payments, tracking due dates, and maintaining organized vendor records

- Support accounts receivable tasks by recording incoming payments and helping resolve routine billing discrepancies

- Perform bank reconciliations to compare financial records against account activity and identify variances

- Maintain accurate accounting data in Quick Books and update transactions in a timely manner

- Organize financial documentation and ensure records are complete, accessible, and aligned with internal procedures

- Communicate with internal teams and external contacts to clarify invoice details, payment status, or account questions

Requirements - Experience supporting accounting functions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, or general ledger assistance

- Working knowledge of bank reconciliation procedures and transaction matching

- Hands-on experience using Quick Books for daily accounting or bookkeeping activities

- Ability to code invoices accurately and maintain strong attention to financial detail

- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines

- Proficiency in reviewing financial information for accuracy and completeness

- Effective written and verbal communication skills in an office environment that values attention to detail
