Sr. Accountant

Description

We are looking for an experienced Sr.Staff Accountant to support core accounting operations for a non-profit organization in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This Long-term Contract position focuses on overseeing daily transaction activity and contributing to reliable month-end reporting. The ideal candidate brings strong reconciliation experience, sound general ledger knowledge, and the ability to manage accounting tasks in a detail-oriented environment.

Responsibilities:

- Review, approve, and post financial transactions to ensure accuracy and alignment with accounting standards.

- Manage accounts payable process.

- Prepare and record journal entries as part of routine accounting operations and period-end close activities.

- Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies to maintain clean and accurate financial data.

- Perform bank reconciliations and resolve outstanding items in a timely manner.

- Contribute to month-end close by organizing supporting documentation and helping ensure reporting deadlines are met.

Requirements

- Proven experience in senior staff accounting or a closely related accounting role.

- Strong background in month-end close processes and general ledger accounting.

- Demonstrated ability to prepare and review journal entries with a high level of accuracy.

- Hands-on experience with account reconciliations, including bank reconciliations.

- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
