Accounting Assistant

Description

We are looking for an Accounting Assistant to support day-to-day financial operations for a contract position based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This role is ideal for someone who is organized, detail-focused, and comfortable managing accounting records in a fast-paced environment. The selected candidate will help maintain accurate financial documentation, assist with payment processing, and contribute to efficient month-to-month accounting activities.

Responsibilities:

- Process vendor invoices, verify coding accuracy, and prepare items for timely payment.

- Support accounts receivable activities by tracking incoming payments and helping maintain current customer account records.

- Reconcile bank statements and internal financial records to identify and resolve discrepancies.

- Enter, update, and maintain accounting data in Quick Books with a high level of accuracy.

- Organize and compile supporting financial documentation while ensuring confidential records are handled appropriately.

- Use Microsoft Excel to prepare reports, track transactions, and assist with routine account analysis.

- Review invoice details and supporting materials to confirm completeness and proper documentation standards.

- Assist the accounting team with administrative and transactional tasks that keep daily financial operations running smoothly.

Requirements - Experience supporting accounting operations with hands-on involvement in accounts payable and accounts receivable tasks.

- Working knowledge of bank reconciliation processes and the ability to investigate variances accurately.

- Proficiency with Quick Books for transaction entry, record maintenance, and account support activities.

- Ability to code invoices correctly and organize related financial documents in a structured manner.

- Strong Microsoft Excel skills for tracking data, creating spreadsheets, and reviewing financial information.

- Familiarity with tools such as Microsoft Copilot is preferred.

- High attention to detail and the ability to manage confidential documents with professionalism.
