Overview
The Assistant Estimator processes the original RFP, checks for completeness, organizes the file structure and prints out needed resources for the Estimator. The Assistant gives and receives information to subs and vendors and otherwise relieves Estimators of clerical work and minor administrative and business detail. This person may perform simple quantity take-off for bidding purposes, and will assist in proposal preparation and delivery.
The Assistant may be required to work within a plant operation or construction jobsite setting.

- Read and route incoming mail
- Compose and type routine correspondence
- Organize and maintain file system, and file correspondence and other records
- Make copies of correspondence or other printed materials
- Prepare outgoing mail and correspondence, including e-mail and faxes
- Order Plans for Bidding
- Procure Bid Bond
- Review insurance before bidding
- Check on permits and sales tax
- Update future bid list
- Prepare weekly bid schedulei
- Make phone calls to vendors and subcontractors for current projects
- Prepare bid forms
- Prepare Call Books / Price Books
- Copy plans and specifications and bind for bidding
- Routinely communicate with others inside and outside of the company
- Assist other craft workers as needed
Physical: While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee may be required to:
- Remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) for extended periods during office work and meetings.
- Operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment.
- Frequently communicate and exchange accurate information in person, electronically, and during virtual or telephone meetings.
Mental: While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee may be required to:
- Direct, collaborate with, and communicate with executives, clients, and project teams.
- Interpret and apply company policies, safety protocols, and written instructions.
- Perform mathematical calculations, analyze business data, and review project estimates.
- Maintain accuracy, productivity, and attention to detail while managing competing priorities in an active office environment with frequent interruptions.
