About This JobThe vacancy is located in the Natchitoches Parish Child Welfare Office. This position primarily exercises direct supervision over a unit of first-line Child Welfare Specialists in all programs including foster care, CPS, and family service programs in line with the agency mission and goals. This position will oversee both Natchitoches and Winnfield child welfare operations.
Minimum Qualifications- Six years of experience in child welfare; OR
- Six years of full‑time work experience in any field plus three years of experience in child welfare; OR
- A bachelor's degree plus three years of experience in child welfare; OR
- An advanced degree in a social science or behavioral health field, nursing, or a juris doctorate plus two years of experience in child welfare.
Experience Substitution:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full‑time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours, which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
Special Requirements
- Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- A current driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle.
- Conduct intra‑office staffings.
- Ensure compliance with various state and federal laws.
- Routinely review case record information.
- Determine case assignments.
- Monitor all computer programs including FATS, SDM, TIPS, etc.
- Interview prospective employees.
- Serve as liaison with community agencies, resources and the judicial system.
- Provide basic training to new staff and provide ongoing training.
The incumbent of this position must not have been convicted or pled nolo contendere to a crime listed in R.S. 15.587.1 (c).

Natchitoches Parish child welfare department, overseeing Natchitoches and Winnfield operations.
Appointment Type:
Probational or job appointment up to 48 months, possible promotion.
Work Schedule:
Typically 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday – Friday. Flexible schedules available based on criteria.
Compensation:
Minimum Special Entrance Rate (SER) $26.91/hr.
No Civil Service test score is required for this vacancy.
