Position: PROJECT ESTIMATOR

Project Estimator

Diamond D Industries, LLC is the nation's leading women-owned heavy construction specialist. Based in South Louisiana, DDI offers clearing, access, site preparation, logistics, and storm response services throughout North America.

The Project Estimator is responsible for calculating costs associated with various civil construction projects, including clearing, access, site preparation, and concrete foundations. Their primary goal is to ensure that projects are economically feasible while meeting the highest standards of quality and safety. In this role, Civil Project Estimators work closely with customers and project teams to prepare detailed cost estimates that guide the planning and execution of construction projects.

Key responsibilities include reviewing project plans, analyzing requirements, and using advance software tools to create accurate and comprehensive cost estimates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing and interpreting project plans and specifications.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, and equipment.
  • Conducting site visits to gather data and assess project personnel.
  • Collaborating with owners, engineers, and project personnel.
  • Analyzing project requirements to identify potential risks and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Conduct risk assessments and provide feedback on potential challenges and opportunities.
  • Utilizing specialized software for estimating purposes.
  • Preparing bid proposals and submitting them to clients or project stakeholders.
  • Evaluating subcontractors' bids and negotiating contracts.
  • Monitoring project costs and adjusting estimates as necessary.
  • Providing cost advice throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Participating in project meetings to offer insights and recommendations on cost-related matters.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3-4 years proven experience in estimating.
  • Experience with estimating software such as HCSS or Bluebeam.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints and specifications.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods and materials.
  • Advance analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication and team collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects.
