As we continue to grow, we are seeking a motivated Civil Assistant Superintendent to support field operations and help ensure our projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to LEMOINE's standards for quality and performance.
Position SummaryThe Civil Assistant Superintendent supports the Superintendent in coordinating and overseeing daily field activities on civil and infrastructure construction projects. This position assists with workforce coordination, subcontractor management, safety compliance, quality control, project documentation, scheduling, and material and equipment planning.
The ideal candidate has hands‑on civil construction experience, strong leadership potential, and a desire to grow into a Civil Superintendent role. This individual must be comfortable working in an active field environment and coordinating with project managers, engineers, inspectors, subcontractors, vendors, and craft employees.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assist the Superintendent with daily field operations for civil construction activities, including earthwork, site grading, drainage, underground utilities, foundations, and concrete work.
- Help coordinate craft employees, subcontractors, equipment, materials, and project logistics.
- Review project drawings, specifications, schedules, and work plans to understand upcoming construction activities.
- Monitor field progress and help ensure work is completed according to project plans, specifications, quality standards, and schedule requirements.
- Participate in daily planning meetings, toolbox talks, safety briefings, and subcontractor coordination meetings.
- Promote and enforce LEMOINE's safety policies and site‑specific safety requirements.
- Identify unsafe conditions or work practices and immediately communicate concerns to project leadership.
- Maintain accurate daily reports documenting manpower, equipment, completed work, deliveries, delays, weather conditions, and project photographs.
- Assist with inspections, testing, punch‑list completion, and quality‑control documentation.
- Coordinate with field engineers, surveyors, inspectors, vendors, and third‑party agencies as needed.
- Help track material deliveries and confirm materials are available before scheduled work begins.
- Support short‑term scheduling, work sequencing, and look‑ahead planning.
- Communicate field issues, schedule concerns, and potential project impacts to the Superintendent and Project Manager.
- Help maintain an organized, productive, and professional jobsite.
- Build positive working relationships with employees, subcontractors, clients, and project partners.
- Demonstrate accountability, initiative, and a commitment to LEMOINE's core values.
- Two or more years of field experience in civil, heavy construction, sitework, utilities, concrete, or a related construction environment.
- General knowledge of civil construction activities, including earthwork, grading, drainage, underground utilities, foundations, or structural concrete.
- Ability to read and interpret civil construction drawings, specifications, and site plans.
- Basic understanding of construction scheduling, field documentation, and quality‑control procedures.
- Experience working with craft employees, subcontractors, heavy equipment, and material deliveries.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with project teams in a fast‑paced field environment.
- Basic computer skills and willingness to learn Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and other construction‑management platforms.
- OSHA 30 certification or willingness to obtain it within an established timeframe.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to assigned project locations.
