Overview
Senior Construction Manager to support a data center project in Baton Rouge, LA. The role involves leading pre‑construction and construction activities, reviewing contractor performance, managing schedules, quality, and cost, and ensuring compliance with US construction practices.
Responsibilities- Implementation and compliance with Jacobs Beyond‑Zero safety culture.
- Conduct constructability reviews, pre‑construction planning, and site logistics planning to optimize safety, cost, and schedule.
- Develop and implement construction schedules and commissioning plans.
- Lead Data Center projects of $10M TIC or greater and manage a professional project field staff of five or more.
- Assist in developing innovative solutions around modularization and prefabrication methods.
- Review, verify, and approve contractor, subcontractor, and vendor execution plans.
- Monitor construction progress daily and provide detailed reporting to owners and Jacobs management.
- Lead daily and weekly contractor meetings focusing on safety, schedule, change management, and project cost.
- Establish defect notification and remediation processes during construction.
- At least 12 years of experience on large building construction or civil projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and practical work experience.
- Experience leading a Data Center project team and managing subcontractors and vendors.
- Project experience with Data Centers and/or Data Center upfits.
- Knowledgeable in 120
VAC electrical power tie‑ins, instrumentation installation (pressure sensors, temp sensors, pressure tubing, etc.), controls wiring, fiber terminations and splicing, network cabling, serial communications, panel wiring and modifications, I/O card or controller installation. - Knowledgeable in NFPA 70E and OSHA 30 compliance.
- Strong knowledge of construction scheduling (critical path method) and commissioning planning.
- Professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, scheduling, and project management programs.
- Ability to read and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scope of work, and project schedules.
- Ability to implement technologies such as Building Information Models (BIM) and Lean principles.
- Reaching, handling, and manipulating objects and materials in all directions.
- Coordinating eye, hand, and body movements in active construction and operations areas.
- Standing and walking for extended periods.
- Seeing and hearing with or without correction.
- Climbing and using step ladders, stairways, and uneven surfaces above and below ground level.
- Lifting up to 25 pounds from ground level, waist level, and overhead.
- Carrying up to 25 pounds for five yards.
- Bending, kneeling, and crouching/squatting while navigating project and operation sites.
