Construction Estimator

Baton Rouge, LA: Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking a Construction
Estimator for a direct hire opportunity with a well-established commercial general contractor in Baton Rouge, LA. This position is ideal for an estimator with 2-7 years of experience who is looking to continue building a career in commercial construction. The Estimator will support the preconstruction process by preparing accurate cost estimates, coordinating with subcontractors and vendors, and collaborating with project management teams.

This role offers the opportunity to learn from experienced estimators while progressively taking ownership of projects within a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

• Prepare quantity takeoffs and detailed cost estimates from construction drawings and specifications.
• Review project plans, bid documents, and contract requirements for accuracy and completeness.
• Solicit, analyze, and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Develop labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor pricing for competitive bids.
• Assist with conceptual estimating, budgeting, and competitive bid preparation.
• Coordinate with project managers and operations teams during project turnover.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and communicate with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
• Ensure estimates are accurate, complete, and submitted within established deadlines.
• Manage multiple estimates simultaneously while maintaining a high level of organization and attention to detail.
• Support senior estimators on larger projects while developing the ability to independently estimate smaller projects.

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
• Associate degree or equivalent construction experience will also be considered.
• 2-7 years of estimating experience within the construction industry.
• Commercial general contractor experience preferred; candidates from subcontractor or related construction backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
• Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and estimating principles.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Knowledge of subcontractor bidding and procurement processes preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Self-motivated with a collaborative mindset, positive attitude, and desire for long-term career growth.

• Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer.
• Frequent use of computers, keyboards, and standard office equipment.
• Ability to review construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
• Occasionally lift and carry materials or office items up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to attend meetings or visit project sites as needed.
• Ability to work additional hours during bid deadlines when required.
