Paving Superintendent
Aero Paving & Construction is a South East Louisiana Based Heavy Civil Contractor focusing on concrete paving solutions built to strict FAA and Department of Defense specifications for commercial airports, military airfields, and heavy-duty transport infrastructure. We are seeking an experienced Paving Superintendent to join our growing team.
This role will manage the concrete paving crew to ensure high-quality concrete paving is installed safely, productively, and efficiently. The supervisor will coordinate closely with the company leadership to ensure that work plans and procedures are followed in the field. The role is responsible for ensuring that crews adhere to safety standards, attendance policies, and workplace behavior guidelines.
The successful candidate will manage the preparation and execution of slipform and fixed-form paving operations, ensuring that finished pavements meet stringent FAA, USACE, and various state/DOT specifications. This position also oversees direct in-field supervision of the crew and works on all phases of construction. As the front-line Safety Officer on the project, the supervisor is directly responsible for the safety of their crew.
This role requires travel, working out of town, and night shifts.
Develop JSAs using project-specific Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA) and Safety Plans.Conduct a Job Safety Analysis (JSA) at the start of each workday and when specific tasks arise that were not covered in the morning JSA.Monitor on-site safety, ensure the crew is equipped with all required PPE, and report any unsafe acts, incidents, injuries, property damage, or near misses to the Paving Superintendent and/or Construction Manager.Supervise crews to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality work.Track and report daily quantities by taking field measurements and performing calculations.Ensure all tools and equipment are inspected and maintained in proper working condition.Inspect grade, forms, and reinforcement placement for compliance with plans and specifications prior to concrete placement.Manage equipment setup, width changes, and calibrations while ensuring all equipment is clean and in good working order.Monitor concrete placement, finishing, sawing, and curing operations for compliance with plans and specifications.Develop work and paving plans and oversee construction activities.Complete daily timecards via iPad with correct cost codes, quantities, and descriptions of work performed.Use Construction software via iPad to review project documents and upload daily progress photos.Read and comprehend project plans and specifications to ensure work meets project requirements.Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience with slipform paving equipment (e.g., GOMACO RTP 500, TC-600, GP3, GP4) preferred. Airfield paving experience is a plus.Experience with stringless technology and knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems on slipform paving equipment is a plus.High school diploma or equivalent required.Self-motivated, inquisitive, and eager to learn.Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across all employee levels.Must have a valid US driver's license and be able to pass high-security background checks to obtain badges for airport and military base access.Must have a dependable vehicle with a current inspection sticker.Ability to interact professionally with all levels of staff, with a strong customer service orientation.Ability to follow and enforce the company's core values.Pre-Employment Requirements:
