Role DescriptionThe Civil Foreman/Heavy Equipment Operator is a full-time, on-site role based in the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Area. This role oversees daily field operations, coordinates crews, and ensures work is completed safely, on schedule, and according to project specifications. Responsibilities include operating heavy equipment for earthwork and site preparation, monitoring quality and productivity, and communicating with project managers and subcontractors. The role also includes directing and training crew members, assisting with layout and basic carpentry tasks, and supporting routine equipment and site maintenance.
The Civil Foreman/Heavy Equipment Operator is expected to promote a culture of safety, follow company policies, and maintain accurate records of work performed.
- Candidates should possess strong supervisory skills, including crew leadership, task delegation, and on-site decision‑making.
- Candidates should possess experience with heavy equipment operation (e.g., excavators, dozers, loaders, graders) and safe equipment handling practices.
- Candidates should possess effective communication skills for interacting with crew members, supervisors, subcontractors, and inspectors.
- Candidates should possess basic carpentry abilities related to formwork, layout, and structural concrete support.
- Candidates should possess maintenance skills for performing routine inspections and minor repairs on equipment and tools.
- Relevant qualifications include prior experience in civil construction or site work, knowledge of safety regulations (OSHA), and familiarity with reading plans and specifications.
- Additional beneficial qualifications include a valid driver’s license, ability to work in varying outdoor conditions, and strong problem‑solving and organizational skills.
- Candidate should have a valid drivers license.
