Job Description & How to Apply Below

Stuart & Company General Contractors has been building in Louisiana since 2003 — starting in the public bid market and growing into one of the region's trusted names in commercial construction. Today we're a multi-division company serving educational, governmental, healthcare, and religious clients, along with libraries, banks, athletic facilities, and office buildings across the Baton Rouge area — plus big box retail work for national chains.

In 2023 we launched Stuart Facilities, our facilities maintenance division, and we're expanding our footprint into Texas, Arkansas, and the Gulf Coast. We're in a serious growth phase, and we're looking for a Project Manager to help lead that work in the field.

About the Role

The Commercial Project Manager provides oversight for all phases of a construction project — coordinating employees, subcontractors, materials, and equipment to ensure specifications are followed and work proceeds with quality, on schedule, and within budget. This is a hands‑on leadership role for someone who takes full ownership of a project from startup through closeout.

What You’ll Do Safety
  • Champion “safety first” at every meeting and on every project site
  • Confirm weekly safety meetings and subcontractor safety orientations are completed
  • Enforce site safety standards and document violations in writing
Quality & Project Oversight
  • Know the contract documents inside and out; review submittals and shop drawings for accuracy before they go to the design team
  • Manage project startup — permits, licenses, utility services, and temporary facilities
  • Schedule and confirm inspections with the design team and oversight agencies
  • Create and manage project logs for RFIs, transmittals, and project changes
  • Complete monthly project billings and maintain as-built drawings for owner turnover
Schedule
  • Build, track, and update the construction schedule with input from the superintendent
  • Coordinate material procurement and long‑lead item deliveries
  • Document subcontractor schedule issues in writing, per contract
Relationships
  • Lead monthly Owner-Architect-Contractor meetings
  • Manage day‑to‑day client interactions and expectations
  • Build strong, lasting relationships with owners, design teams, and subcontractors
Financial Oversight
  • Manage, review, and verify project costs, budgets, and receivables
  • Oversee change management and procure wisely across subcontractors, materials, and equipment
What You Bring
  • Proven experience managing commercial construction projects from startup through closeout
  • Strong knowledge of contract documents, submittals, and construction scheduling
  • Comfortable managing budgets, monthly billings, and change orders
  • Strong leadership and communication skills across owners, subcontractors, and field teams
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites as needed
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience
