Duties and Responsibilities:

Job Specification:

* Teach the equivalent of five (5) courses per semester (fall and spring)

* Develop and revise curricula

* Advise ASLS students

* College service (committee assignments, recruitment events, etc.)

* Professional development (conferences, workshops, publications, etc.)

* Serve as program manager for the Associate of Arts in American Sign Language Studies.

* Other duties as assigned

Required

Education:

Bachelor's degree in one of the following or a closely related field:

* American Sign Language

* Linguistics

* Sign Language Studies

* Sign Language Education

* Interpreter Education

* Deaf Education

* Deaf Culture

One of the following credentials:

* Certified Deaf Interpreter (CDI) from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID)

* National Interpreter Certification (NIC) from RID

* Certification from the American Sign Language Teachers Association (ASLTA)

* Or an equivalent recognized certification

Preferred Education:

Master's degree in one of the following or a closely related field:

* American Sign Language

* Linguistics

* Sign Language Studies

* Sign Language Education

* Interpreter Education

* Deaf Education

* Deaf Culture

Minimum of two (2) years of experience teaching American Sign Language at the college or university level.
