The School of Social Work (SSW) in the College of Human Sciences & Education (CHSE) at Louisiana State University (LSU) invites applications for an open-rank tenure-track position to start in August 2026.
Open-Rank Tenure-Track Position:
Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor
The LSU School of Social Works invites applications for an open-rank tenure-track position to start in August 2026. We are particularly interested in scholars with expertise in the area of Sport Social Work/Positive Youth Development, a rapidly growing social work sub-field that integrates athletic performance, mental health, and youth development. We encourage applicants that also consider sports in community development and with experience in conducting community-engaged research.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate an ability to leverage LSU's national leadership in athletics and health sciences to expand interdisciplinary research, increase externally funded grants, and enhance doctoral education, while also supporting LSU's land grant mission through impactful community-engaged scholarship and service.
Responsibilities:
50% RESEARCH:
* consistently produce and disseminate scholarly research, including peer reviewed publications and national conference presentations
* consistently seek and secure external research funding
* if senior-level faculty, assist in mentoring and promoting junior-level faculty research
* mentor and promote graduate students' research
40% TEACHING:
* carrying an annual 2:2 teaching load (i.e., instructor of record in two courses in fall and two courses in spring semesters), with opportunity for course buyouts based on faculty member's secured external funding
* assist in providing and maintaining current, innovative content relative to curriculum development and delivery
10% SERVICE:
* provide service to school, college, and university in assigned committees and similar, faculty membership groups
* serve on student thesis and dissertation committees
* provide service to the profession; examples include service to local community organizations (whose missions align with faculty member's research expertise), journal editorial boards, and invited lectures
* other duties assigned
Required Qualifications:
PhD in Social Work or related field
LMSW or LCSW is required throughout the duration of the faculty member's employment
Preferred Qualifications:
PhD and MSW
Two years post-master's experience in professional social work practice or related field
The appointment begins August 2026. Review of applications will continue until a candidate is selected with an initial priority review date of January 15, 2026.
