Job Focus Area

This Education Consultant 3 position is located within the Numeracy Division and serves as a Content Specialist. This position reports to the classified Director of Math Strategy (Education Consultant Supervisor) and functions as a subject matter expert on foundational mathematics skills for kindergarten through third grade. The role supports the development and implementation of required K-3 numeracy screener resources, contributes to the online review of instructional materials to identify high-quality, standards-aligned resources, and assists in developing tools and guidance to support implementation of the Louisiana Student Standards for Mathematics.

Candidates with the following skills, abilities, and experience are encouraged to apply:

* In-depth, current knowledge of content standards, curriculum, and assessment as related to mathematics

* Experience teaching mathematics and/or serving as a mathematics content expert

* Ability to work well with others

* Efficient and effective use of various software systems (Google docs, google sheets, etc.)

* Experience in collaborating with multiple stakeholders to deliver a common and consistent message to the field in support of Louisiana's mathematics priorities.

Seven years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR

Six years of full-time work experience plus four years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR

A bachelor's degree plus four years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR

An advanced degree plus three years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services.

Job Duties:

As an Education Consultant 3, you'll help to support foundational numeracy instruction and professional learning experiences for educators and students across our state. In this role, you will:

* Develop resources to guide teachers in responding to student needs as evidence by K-3 screener results.

* Develop and support the development of resources to support the implementation of the Louisiana Student Standards for Mathematics.

* Use subject matter expertise to conduct and support the review of instructional materials and tutoring applications to identify high-quality, standards aligned resources and support for schools and systems across the state.

Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type:
Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment. The person hired for this position is expected to regularly report to the Baton Rouge office. Current permanent classified state employees may be required to accept a probationary appointment if selected.

Career Progression:
This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group.

Work Schedule:

Work hours are Monday - Friday. Work hours will be determined.

Compensation:
The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.

Note regarding the advertised pay range:
The Education Consultant series have a special entrance rate (SER) of $28.97 hourly, $2317.20 biweekly that is above the minimum hire rate for these positions. The maximum amounts listed are the maximum salary amounts a person can make over their career and not the maximum amount we are allowed to pay a new hire.
