Office of Assessment, Accountability, and Analytics

Job Focus Area

This position is housed in the Office of Assessments, Accountability and Analytics and reports to the classified Education Consultant Supervisor. The person in this position will implement programs that further the development of statewide assessment and support the integration of the Louisiana Student Standards for Social Studies, instructional best practices, and assessments specific to social studies. This position is essential as Louisiana's social studies assessments continue to evolve.

Some responsibilities of this position include developing, reviewing, and constructing social studies assessment items aligned to the Louisiana Student Standards for Social Studies; providing support to LDOE teams, school system leaders, and educators; creating assessment resources; monitoring the scoring of social studies assessment tasks; analyzing the results of the state's social studies assessments; and facilitating various assessment review committees.

Candidates with the following skills, abilities, and experience are encouraged to apply:

The ideal candidate should have social studies teaching experience; possess in-depth knowledge of Louisiana Student Standards for Social Studies and effective social studies instructional practices; be familiar with social studies assessments; demonstrate excellent communication skills; and be able to handle several, detail-oriented projects at the same time without sacrificing quality.

Seven years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR

Six years of full-time work experience plus four years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR

A bachelor's degree plus four years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR

An advanced degree plus three years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services.

Job Duties:

* Leading team meetings and reviewing the work/performance of peers.

* Setting program goals and objectives, and developing plans for implementation.

* Communicating the needs of Local Education Agencies (LEAs) to the Assessment  Director and Assistant Superintendent.

* Providing regular updates to the Assessment Director and Assistant Superintendent on services, programs, and current issues.

* Collaborating with Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) staff to stay current on state and federal programs.

* Advising school system superintendents, educators, and external stakeholders on policies, procedures, laws, and regulations.

* Assisting in the resolution of program-related problems for schools and school systems.

* Researching and developing new solutions and enhancing content  based on trends, research findings, and legislative changes.

* Serving as a school system partner to build the capacity of school and district teams.

* Designing and implementing evaluation methods to measure program quality and student impact.

* Planning and conducting professional development, workshops, and conferences for educators, higher education institutions, and community groups.

* Meeting with stakeholders from schools, colleges, technical institutions, and outside organizations to coordinate efforts.

* Preparing reports, presentations, and communication materials for regional and state stakeholders.

* Traveling to schools or districts to provide on-site consultation and technical assistance.

Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type:
Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment. The person hired for this position is expected to regularly report to the Baton Rouge office. Current permanent classified state employees may be required to accept a probationary appointment, if selected.

Career Progression:  This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group.

Work Schedule:

Work hours are Monday - Friday. Work hours will be determined.

Compensation:
The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.

The Education Consultant series has a special entrance rate that is above the minimum hire rate for these positions.

The maximum amounts listed are the maximum salary amounts a person can make over their career and not the maximum amount we are allowed to pay a new hire.
