SCHOOL OVERVIEW

THRIVE is a school unlike any other - one of the first boarding schools in the country serving at-risk students. The mission of THRIVE is to empower students from underserved Louisiana communities and prepare them academically and personally for success in college and beyond. THRIVE aims to reach this goal through a world-class school in a boarding setting. Serving grades seven through twelve, THRIVE will provide the students and families of Louisiana with a never before-seen service - a free public boarding school.

Type:
Full Time (12 months)

Typical Schedule:

2:30 - 10:30pm Sunday - Thursday

Schedule may vary in summer months and on rare occasions to support school/academic initiatives

Responsibilities

* Strongly supports the overall success and supervision of the residential life program

* Works in partnership with the Managing Director of Thrive Academy to create and implement all policies and procedures related to the residential life program

* Continuously monitors direct reports to ensure residential program policies and procedures are being followed and improved upon

* Supports the Managing Director of Thrive Academy in strategic planning efforts

* Works with direct reports to hire, train, coach residential mentors

* Mentor, and when needed, discipline students to help support their growth mentally, academically, and socially

* Reviews monitoring and tracking of student behavior to proactively address potential issues and make recommendations for improvement

* Liaise with appropriate academic personnel regarding student issues

* Maintain a balance between administrative workload and student interactions

* Investigate student complaints and incident and keep required reports

* Supports staff and student issues and conflicts with appropriate intervention and counseling

* Supports maintenance of confidential student records

* Communicates with parents and families as a group about the residential program and individually on escalated student issues

* Sets a positive example by being a role model for students in the program, as well as staff

Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree, Master's preferred

* Knowledge or background in working with at-risk youth

* Strong communication skills, verbal and written

* Enthusiasm and patience for working with middle and high school age students

* Willingness to work hard and with fidelity

* Ability to effectively work and interact respectfully within a fast-paced environment

* Demonstrated leadership and supervisory abilities

* Well organized

* Meets deadlines

* Exhibits a proactive approach to problem solving

* Data Driven

* Utilizes technology to improve upon systems and processes where possible
