SCHOOL OVERVIEW

THRIVE is a school unlike any other - one of the first boarding schools in the country serving at-risk students. The mission of THRIVE is to empower students from underserved Louisiana communities and prepare them academically and personally for success in college and beyond. THRIVE aims to reach this goal through a world-class school in a boarding setting. Serving grades seven through twelve, THRIVE will provide the students and families of Louisiana with a never before-seen service - a free public boarding school.

By combining the best educational methods with a 24-hour supportive environment, THRIVE seeks to provide students with a place to learn where nothing can get in the way.

Typical Schedule:

2:30 - 10:30pm Sunday - Thursday

Responsibilities

* Supports the campus in the use of a Trauma-Informed Behavior Policy that creates and enhances a positive school-wide and classroom and dormitory culture, removes environmental and behavioral barriers to learning, and promotes equity for all students

* Provides targeted behavioral supports to identified students

* Collects and analyzes campus behavioral data and supports data-based decision-making process to support continuous improvement

* Receive and help deescalate students who have been sent out of the general group (club, activity or unit) for behavior concerns or who have been assigned time in the reflection room (either after school or as a part of Residential Life suspension program)

* Monitors behavioral tracking platform and trains/supports mentors on appropriate use of the platform

* Thoroughly investigates all residential student incidents and completes all Thrive and state related paperwork based on the incident

* Communicates with parents and families about behavior issues

* Plans student Positive Behavioral Intervention and Support (PBIS) program events to reward positive student behaviors

* Cross-trained with evening residential staff in order to assume their responsibilities when needed

* Sets a positive example by being a role model for students in the program, as well as staff

* Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with middle/high school students

* Knowledge or background in working with at-risk youth

* Strong communication skills, verbal and written

* Enthusiasm and patience for working with middle and high school age students

* Willingness to work hard and with fidelity

* Ability to effectively work and interact respectfully within a fast-paced environment

* Demonstrated administrative abilities

* Well organized

* Meets deadlines

* Utilizes technology to improve upon systems and processes where possible

* Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, families, and staff

* Knowledge of and ability to implement de-escalation techniques and behavioral management strategies

* Ability to handle emotionally charged situations while remaining calm

* Ability to monitor and observe student behavior

* Ability to collect and analyze behavioral data
