Position: ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY REGIONAL SPECIALIST

Assistive Technology Regional Specialist

The Louisiana Special School District is seeking applicants for an Assistive Technology Regional Specialist Position # to be filled immediately. This 12 month position will serve as the Regional Specialist for the Lafayette and surrounding areas. Some travel will be required.

The LA Special School District is seeking applicants for an Assistive Technology Regional Specialist.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher, in education/allied health technology or closely related field AND/OR licensure in an allied health profession
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in the area of Assistive Technology to individuals with disabilities

Job Specification:

The employee will develop and promote the use of Assistive (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). into overall curriculum of the instructors of students with disabilities in Louisiana.

Job Duties and Other Information:

  • Provide training to instructional team members in the use of Assistive Technology.
  • Serve as Consortium Assistive Technology team leader for designated parishes.
  • Serve as an Assistive Technology consultant to school districts in assigned areas.
  • Assist districts in conducting Assistive Technology assessments of students.
  • Gather and maintain data on Accessible Educational Materials (AEM) activities and support activities provided to the school districts.
  • Work collaboratively as a member of the assistive technology team in each district.
  • Collaborate in the development of a website for the Accessible Educational Materials (AEM) by posting blogs and learning modules.
  • Assist in the establishment of the Accessible Educational Materials (AEM) Centers and provide resources and services to Assistive Technology team members and instructional staff of students with disabilities.
  • Assist in Professional Developments for school districts on Assistive Technology and Accessible Educational Materials.
  • Develop and/or facilitate distance learning opportunities for staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor and/or Director.
