Job DescriptionThis Education Consultant 4 reports to a classified Education Consultant Supervisor and will serve as the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Specialist within the Office of Teaching and Learning, Division of Academic Content. This position will collaborate with the Offices of College and Career Readiness and Assessment, Accountability, and Analytics to lead the statewide strategy to implement AI Literacy in Louisiana. This position will be responsible for developing a high-level systems-based approach and outlining the steps/stages to achieve that strategy across multiple teams within the LDOE, industry, higher education institutions, and school systems.
This position will serve as the content expert in Artificial Intelligence, network with state and national experts, and have in-depth, current knowledge of Artificial Intelligence (AI) research.
Candidates with the following skills, abilities, and experience are encouraged to apply:
- In-depth, current knowledge of Artificial Intelligence (AI) content, tools, and instructional uses within the context of computer science and K-12 education settings
- Ability to work well with others
- Ability to manage a team to move work forward
- Ability to engage in the observation and review of implementation to refine strategy and plans through an ongoing improvement cycle
- Experience in collaborating with multiple stakeholders to deliver a common and consistent message to the field in support of the Louisiana Department of Education vision and goals
- Previous project management experience
- Experience teaching computer science or other related content and expertise as a content expert in instructional technology
Eight years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR Six years of full-time work experience plus five years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR A bachelor's degree plus five years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR An advanced degree plus four years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services.
Job Duties and Other InformationJob Duties:
- Determines program goals and objectives, and develops plans to effectively implement the specified programs.
- Coordinates a process in coordination with teachers and experts from around the state to review and update the state guidance.
- Coordinates the development and implementation of curricula in all public elementary and secondary schools in the state.
- Facilitates quality programs with age-appropriate skills that ensure responsible and effective integration of technologies in Louisiana's K-12 classrooms.
- Develops and delivers professional learning statewide using quality resources and tools.
- Creates standards-aligned guidance to support the implementation of teacher and student competencies.
- Researches and applies findings to strengthen current professional knowledge and the professional development delivered; at times, develops training, support tools, and protocols that incorporate new learning and research.
- Analyzes educational program data as it relates to programs administered by the division and disseminates the findings to appropriate audiences.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type:
Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment. The person hired for this position is expected to regularly report to the Baton Rouge office. Current permanent classified state employees may be required to accept a probationary appointment if selected. Career Progression:
This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group.
Work Schedule:
Work hours are Monday - Friday. Work hours will be determined. Compensation:
The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
