This position is located in Baton Rouge, LA Office of Career and College Readiness Job Focus Area
At the Louisiana Department of Education, specifically within the Office of Career and College Readiness, our mission is to create, promote, and manage opportunities that ensure students in Louisiana have a meaningful high school experience. We are seeking an Education Consultant 3 to manage programs aimed at helping students improve their academic performance and explore career options, enabling them to make informed decisions about their paths after graduation.
The ability to build and maintain relationships with secondary and postsecondary partners, strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, and experience in K-12 and/or postsecondary education are critical to this position. In addition, knowledge of and experience with student planning environments and innovative career and technical education programming are preferred.
Candidates with the following skills, abilities, and experience are encouraged to apply:Experience at the high school and/or postsecondary level with complex federal grant writing, implementation, and/or evaluation.
- Seven years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR
- Six years of full-time work experience plus four years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR
- A bachelor's degree plus four years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR
- An advanced degree plus three years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services.

Job Duties:- Manage federal grant approval processes.
- Provide technical assistance to school systems for federal grant programming.
- Provide constructive feedback to school systems on all required components when applying for federal grant programming.
Appointment Type:
Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment.
The person hired for this position is expected to regularly report to the Baton Rouge office.
Current permanent classified state employees may be required to accept a probationary appointment, if selected.
Career Progression:
This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group.
Work Schedule:
Work hours are Monday - Friday. Work hours will be determined.
Compensation:
The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
Note regarding the advertised pay range:
The Education Consultant series has a special entrance rate of $28.97 hourly, $2,317.20 biweekly that is above the minimum hire rate for these positions.
The maximum amounts listed are the maximum salary amounts a person can make over their career and not the maximum amount we are allowed to pay a new hire.
