Job Specification

The Instructor of Graphic and Web Design is responsible for teaching courses in graphic design, with a focus on Adobe Creative Cloud, and web design, covering HTML for content structure, CSS for styling, and JavaScript for interactivity. This role involves fostering a dynamic learning environment, guiding students through hands-on projects, and instilling a deep understanding of design principles and web development/design practices. As a key contributor to our academic community, the instructor plays a vitalrole in preparing students for successful employment in theever-evolving landscape of graphic and web design.

  • Teach the equivalent of five (5) face-to-face and online courses per semester (fall and spring)
  • College service (committee assignments, recruitment events,etc.)
  • Develop and revise curricula
  • Advise Graphic Arts and Web Design students
  • Professional development (conferences, workshops, publications,etc.)
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Education
  • Any master’s degree with at least 18 graduate credit hours ingraphic design, web design, interactive media, or digital art
  • At least five years working with Adobe Creative Cloud suite as demonstrated by a portfolio of creative work
  • At least five years in website development/design using HTML, CSS,JavaScript, etc. as demonstrated by a portfolio of creative work.
Preferred Education
  • Master’s degree in graphic design, web design, interactive media, or digital art
  • At least three years teaching college-level graphic design/webdesign courses (including serving as a graduate assistant) as demonstrated by a portfolio of student creative work
  • At least five years working with Adobe Creative Cloud suite as demonstrated by a portfolio of creative work
  • At least five years in website development/design using HTML, CSS,JavaScript, etc. as demonstrated by a portfolio of creative work
  • Experience teaching courses with learning management system (LMS) such as Canvas, Moodle, Blackboard, etc.
  • Experience teaching dual enrollment/early college high school students
  • Experience with industry-based certifications (Adobe, CIW,etc.)
  • Curriculum development
  • Professional activity as a practicing graphic designer or web designer
  • Advanced graphic design skills using the Adobe Creative Cloudsuite
  • Advanced front-end web development/design skills using HTML, CSS,JavaScript, etc.
  • UI/UX design
  • Web hosting solutions
