The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality’s (LDEQ) mission is to provide service to the people of Louisiana through comprehensive environmental protection in order to promote and protect health, safety, and welfare.
The Air Permits Division’s Manufacturing Section is seeking a qualified Environmental Chemical Specialist (ECS) Advanced to perform complex scientific and technical work in support of air permitting and regulatory compliance programs. This position serves as a technical expert for the Section and provides advanced-level support to ensure consistency with applicable federal and state air quality laws and regulations.
Minimum Qualifications- A bachelor’s degree in an engineering field plus three years of experience in process design; OR
- A master’s degree in an engineering field or a chemical or physical science field plus two years of experience in process design; OR
- A doctorate degree in an engineering field or a chemical or physical science field plus one year of experience in process design.

Job Duties and Other InformationJob Duties:
- Conducting detailed technical reviews of Title V, PSD, and New Source Review (NSR) permits prepared by Environmental Scientists (ES) and ECSs.
- Collaborating with staff to develop and improve procedures, processes, tools, and methods to enhance consistency, productivity, and efficiency.
- Entering required data from issued NSR permits into the RACT/BACT/LAER Clearinghouse (RBLC) within established time frames, in accordance with Performance Partnership Grant commitments.
- Assisting in responding to inquiries related to environmental regulations and permitting from the public, environmental organizations, co-workers, and the regulated community.

- Compensation: This position offers a Special Entrance Rate (SER) listed below. This is the minimum compensation that may be offered. The job title and salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
