This role is the perfect blend of technical depth, real-world impact, and continuous growth.
- Engineering Change Package (ECP) Development:
Prepare Engineering Change Packages to replace or upgrade obsolete analog-based I&C systems with modern computer-based I&C systems and components. ECP preparation includes developing/revising associated documentation such as specifications, system descriptions, cabinet/panel layout diagrams, wiring/cable termination diagrams, bill of materials (BOM), part lists, vendor instruction manuals, and operations manuals. - Testing & Analysis:
Prepare test plans and detailed test instructions. Perform engineering calculations and analysis such as failure modes and effect analysis (FMEA), qualitative assessments of reliability, response time analysis, instrument setpoint and uncertainty calculations, and instrument drift analysis. - System Design & Procurement:
Develop specifications and functional requirements for procurement of computer-based I&C systems. Review OEM digital platform hardware and software technical documentation for specified applications. - Project Support &
Collaboration:
Provide estimates to Project Management to support budget and schedule development. Participate in project meetings, working interactively with colleagues and clients to develop strong relationships. Plan and implement the timely execution of assigned engineering activities. - Regulatory & Standards Compliance:
Become proficient in the application and use of regulatory requirements, industry codes, and standards unique to digital I&C systems.
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, and Engineering (BSCSE), or related field, or equivalent education and experience.
- Minimum of 6 years of I&C engineering experience, with significant experience with computer-based platforms in the nuclear industry (preferred).
- Minimum of 6 years of experience developing test plans and detailed test instructions.
- Experience designing, installing, and testing large‑scale digital control and computer‑monitoring system upgrades, including turbine/generator control system replacements with DCS platforms, process computers, and cyber security systems.
- Direct involvement in the entire digital upgrade life cycle, including feasibility studies, procurement specifications, design change packages, FAT/SAT test procedure development, installation, and testing.
- Working knowledge of current regulatory and industry digital upgrade standards.
- Knowledge of digital hardware and software components commonly used in digital I&C platforms, such as CPUs, I/O modules, fiber‑optic modules, network interface modules, switch/router modules, servers, and human‑system interface (HSI) equipment (thin clients, touch‑screen displays, etc.).
- Strong analytical ability, problem‑identification and resolution skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a client‑service focus.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks while working effectively with all levels of staff and management.
- Required to travel 15‑25% of the time; travel duration may vary by project, ranging from a few weeks to several months.
