Qualifications- Possession of a high school diploma or GED plus four years of sub-professional engineering experience; OR
- Six months of experience in sub-professional engineering, heavy mobile equipment operation, or mobile equipment maintenance plus four years of sub-professional engineering experience; OR
- Twenty-four semester hours in one of the following specialized fields: architecture, cartography, construction management, construction technology, drafting, engineering, engineering graphics, engineering technology, industrial technology, landscape architecture, math, or physics; OR
- A bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, construction management or construction technology.

Job Duties- Serve as DOTD’s technical expert in traffic monitoring equipment, systems, and technologies
- Manage and oversee the statewide inventory of traffic monitoring equipment, including procurement, maintenance, and operational integrity
- Provide advanced technical guidance to engineers, technicians, and district personnel
- Develop, evaluate, and implement procedures, standards, and best practices for traffic monitoring systems
- Diagnose and resolve complex equipment, system, and data issues
- Serve as DOTD’s representative in meetings with local, state, and federal partners
- Prepare technical reports, analyses, and recommendations for leadership decision-making
- Support installation, inspection, testing, and calibration of permanent traffic monitoring equipment
- Evaluate new technologies and recommend innovations to improve data accuracy and reliability
- Assist with emergency or disaster response activities, as needed
Appointment Type:
Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment or Detail to Special Duty.
Compensation:
This position is eligible for premium pay of $1.00 per hour for all hours worked. Premium pay is subject to applicable rules and may change based on assignment, funding, or policy.
