- Develop a full understanding of the project’s scope, overall schedule, deliverables, milestones, man‑hour budgets, industry standards, applicable codes, and procedures.
- Participate in interactive planning meetings to establish major milestones.
- Create staffing plans to meet budget and schedule requirements.
- Determine line count and estimated isometric quantities based on P&IDs.
- Be knowledgeable of client and project procedures, and specifications.
- Establish design areas within the unit or areas of responsibility.
- Identify and request information via a “Needs List” to maintain schedule.
- Monitor and utilize the Master P& log to identify scope change.
- Use AVEVA E3D/Navisworks for 3D model review to monitor design quality and progress.
- Review and approve deliverables prior to issue.
- Coordinate design effort with other engineering and design disciplines.
- Ensure deliverable verification procedures are followed.
- Participate in all design reviews for the project.
- Validate piping drawings in office and field (experience a plus).
- Prior AVEVA 3D experience developing piping models, pipe supports, equipment models, and extracting isometric and orthographic drawings (a plus).
- Develop general arrangements of plant facilities, structures, and equipment, ensuring safe maintenance and construction and interface with all engineering disciplines.
- Perform field design, walk‑downs, and pipe routing through existing facilities, identify pipe supports, and input field data into AVEVA E3D.
- Use laser scanning when available (experience with scans in AVEVA E3D is a plus).
- Execute projects within existing facilities with many obstructions and other design constraints.
- Lead and mentor project team members from multiple office locations, including Global Integrated Delivery centers.
- Minimum 10 years of lead piping design and layout design experience for power, chemical, and industrial facilities.
- Strong background in discipline work and competent understanding of regulations, codes, manufacturing standards, and industry‑standard practices.
- Experience in estimating project costs and writing proposal content.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Minimum 2 years of 3‑D model design software experience, primarily using AVEVA E3D.
- Experience with Microstation V8i and AutoCAD.
- Technical or 2‑3 year diploma with piping design specific training (required).
- Equivalent education and experience with leadership and project execution training (preferred).
