The Automation Engineer – HVAC Building Control Systems role focuses on the service, repair, design, configuration, and operation of HVAC building control systems and other low voltage control subsystems such as lighting, nurse call, and data networks.
What you will do- Accountable for quality, timeliness, and efficiency of service & repair and designs.
- Develop complex software programs, commission, and solve problems to ensure proper operations of the building control system.
- Provide detailed information and submittals to communicate design and operation to customers, consultants, Sales and Service teams, and subcontractors.
- Design, configure, and service technically complex building control systems for customer facilities.
- Create flow diagrams, sequences of operations, bills of material, network layouts, schedules, and electrical schematics as required.
- Develop and test software programs necessary to operate the system per customer facility requirements.
- Coordinate and create necessary drawings and equipment schedules for submittals, services, and/or installations.
- Select, order, and track the delivery of materials for assigned jobs.
- Assist in the loading and commissioning of all system and network-level controllers.
- Validate complete system functionality and solve problems with subcontractors and other trades to ensure proper operation.
- Provide field change information to the team for the creation of as‑built drawings and software.
- Keep management, contract and customer informed of job progress and issues.
- Assist in performing site‑specific training for owner/operator on the total building control system.
- Participate in coordination and release meetings with sales and service operations.
- Perform value engineering to provide cost‑effective results while maintaining customer satisfaction.
- May provide work direction to Service Controls Technicians of various levels.
- Adhere to safety standards and maintain a high regard for employee and subcontractor safety.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering and/or minimum 3–4 years of experience.
- Petro‑Chemical experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the construction or service, or HVAC industry.
- Demonstrated knowledge of control theory, automatic temperature controls, building automation systems and other building subsystems.
- Demonstrated experience in the integration of low‑voltage building subsystems using industry protocols (e.g., LON, BACnet).
- Ability to relate technical knowledge to a non‑technical audience.
- Advanced computer skills, particularly in drafting tools.

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $32.70–$44.71 (Hourly rate determined by qualifications, experience, skills, and market data).
