Summary
The Senior Air Quality Engineer will be involved in providing comprehensive air permitting and compliance support as well as managing projects. This position is responsible for supporting air permitting and compliance projects by managing, directing, and developing permit applications, reports, and programs required by State and Federal regulatory agencies. It reports to the Air Compliance Managing Director and should also be capable of client development and relationship maintenance.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelors or Masters in Engineering (preferred), Environmental Science, Chemistry, Meteorology, or related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license, preferred.
- 10 or more years of experience in air quality.
- 3 or more years of experience in project management.
- Proven ability to maintain strong client relationships while contributing to business development initiatives and identifying opportunities for new or expanded work.
- Strong knowledge of federal air quality regulations; experience with Title V, PSD, and NNSR permitting; and familiarity with air dispersion modeling.
- Experience supporting projects across multiple industries and geographic regions, including work in Louisiana and Texas.
- Excellent verbal, written, and digital communication skills, paired with a collaborative mindset and the ability to work seamlessly within multidisciplinary teams.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain an insurable driving record.

- Manage multiple clients and projects, including delegation of tasks, tracking progress, and developing and monitoring budgets to ensure timely, on-budget delivery.
- Support business development by maintaining client relationships and assisting in the pursuit of new opportunities.
- Mentor and train junior staff to support technical growth, consistency, and team development.
- Prepare and oversee the submission of annual compliance reports, ensuring regulatory deadlines and quality standards are met.
- Prepare and manage routine reporting under the Clean Air Act, ensuring compliance with applicable state and federal requirements.
- Develop, review, and refine compliance plans to ensure accuracy, effectiveness, and regulatory alignment.
- Design and deliver air compliance training materials and sessions tailored to client or internal needs.
- Coordinate the development of air emissions calculations.
- Conduct regulatory applicability analyses for industrial processes, interpreting and applying state and federal requirements.
- Complete comprehensive regulatory compliance evaluations for facilities, identifying gaps and recommending corrective actions.
- Assist with facility inspections, audits, and sampling efforts to assess compliance status and support corrective planning.
- Lead the preparation of air permit applications, including Title V, PSD, and NNSR permits, in coordination with clients and regulators.
- Support the oversight, coordination, and review of air dispersion modeling efforts for regulatory applications and compliance strategy.
- Adhere to all safety and confidentiality requirements set forth by Providence and its clients.
- Ability to travel on an as-needed basis, occasionally on short notice.
- Ability to walk long distances.
- Ability to lift 30 lbs.
- Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions and on varied terrain, sometimes for extended periods.
