Engineer , DOTD Materials Research Administrator

Job Summary

Engine 7 materials research administrator responsible for directing the LTRC Materials Research Program, overseeing a broad spectrum of transportation technology and operations, including asphalt and concrete materials, structural materials, and construction practices. Provides professional engineering direction and makes authoritative decisions that impact DOTD engineering activities.

• Plan, develop and administer materials and structures research programs across a broad range of transportation technologies.
• Advise and provide leadership to directorate, division and office chiefs on technology development, implementation of research findings, and policy improvement.
• Serve as expert witness in technical areas supported by the research program.
• Provide budget authority for the Materials Group, preparing and recommending operating budgets, personnel matters, and staffing needs.
• Administer materials related activities at the Engineering Materials Characterization Research Facility (EMCRF).

• Current Louisiana professional engineering license.
• Three years of licensed engineering experience or seven years of professional engineering experience, or equivalent education.
• Master’s degree substitutes for one year of professional engineering experience.
• Doctorate degree substitutes for two years.
• Advanced degrees substitute for up to two years.
• No substitution for licensed engineering experience.
• Applicants licensed in other states may apply; however, a Louisiana license must be obtained prior to appointment.

• Appointment:
  Promotional, open only to current permanent classified employees of LA DOTD.
• Compensation:
  Special Entrance Rate (SER) of $3,481.60 biweekly.
