Job Summary
Engine 7 materials research administrator responsible for directing the LTRC Materials Research Program, overseeing a broad spectrum of transportation technology and operations, including asphalt and concrete materials, structural materials, and construction practices. Provides professional engineering direction and makes authoritative decisions that impact DOTD engineering activities.
Responsibilities- Plan, develop and administer materials and structures research programs across a broad range of transportation technologies.
- Advise and provide leadership to directorate, division and office chiefs on technology development, implementation of research findings, and policy improvement.
- Serve as expert witness in technical areas supported by the research program.
- Provide budget authority for the Materials Group, preparing and recommending operating budgets, personnel matters, and staffing needs.
- Administer materials related activities at the Engineering Materials Characterization Research Facility (EMCRF).
- Current Louisiana professional engineering license.
- Three years of licensed engineering experience or seven years of professional engineering experience, or equivalent education.
- Master’s degree substitutes for one year of professional engineering experience.
- Doctorate degree substitutes for two years.
- Advanced degrees substitute for up to two years.
- No substitution for licensed engineering experience.
- Applicants licensed in other states may apply; however, a Louisiana license must be obtained prior to appointment.

Promotional, open only to current permanent classified employees of LA DOTD. - Compensation:
Special Entrance Rate (SER) of $3,481.60 biweekly. - Benefit details available upon application.
