Fired Equipment Engineer

Purpose

The Fired Equipment Engineer designs, develops, implements and analyzes technical products and systems. Point of contact for fired equipment support and escalations; troubleshoots issues, plans turnaround and equipment strategy.

Onsite in Baton Rouge, LA refinery – 30% field, 70% office. Per diem/living allowance may be offered for candidates living more than 100 miles from Baton Rouge. One year duration with possible extension. Work schedule M-F 40 hour with potential overtime as requested and approved. No travel required.

• Responsible for the design, development, implementation, and analysis of technical products and systems.
• Perform equipment engineering design evaluations.
• Develop a range of products.
• Recommend alterations to development and design to improve product or procedure quality.
• Plan and accomplish goals using experience and judgment.
• Perform a variety of complex tasks.
• Exercise a wide degree of creativity and latitude.

• 8+ years industry experience with 3+ years fire equipment experience (heaters, boilers, flares); operation and project delivery background.
• Proficient in fired simulation software and Microsoft Office.
• Effective communication across teams; initiative with juggling priorities and tight deadlines.
• Strong knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field.
• Ability to anticipate and solve problems by integrating knowledge from multiple areas.
• Less reliant on supervisor, but may report to a supervisor or manager.
• Responsible for owning projects.
• Represents local workgroup internally and occasionally externally.

• Bachelor's in mechanical or chemical engineering.
