Traffic Engineering Specialist
This position is a dedicated specialist and has a responsibility for supporting the Traffic Engineering Division related to reviews, specifications, and project management. The Traffic Engineering Division is responsible for reviewing all Department projects with a focus related to Traffic Control. These reviews assist the Department with quality control and improvement of project plans and designs. The Traffic Engineering Division develops task orders, scopes, plans, specifications and may oversee consultant contracts that require traffic engineering work.
The reviews, specifications, and project management are time sensitive and critical for the function of Department Programs. This position requires close coordination with all Traffic Engineering staff, project managers, program managers, road design, bridge design, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), and local entities.
Minimum Qualifications:
Possession of a high school diploma or GED plus four years of sub-professional engineering experience; OR Six months of experience in sub-professional engineering, heavy mobile equipment operation, or mobile equipment maintenance plus four years of sub-professional engineering experience; OR Twenty-four semester hours in one of the following specialized fields: architecture, cartography, construction management, construction technology, drafting, engineering, engineering graphics, engineering technology, industrial technology, landscape architecture, math, or physics;
OR A bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, construction management or construction technology.

Job Duties:
- Oversees the processing of all plan review requests to the Traffic Engineering Division.
- Responsible for informing a review requestor that the request has been received and the expected completion date.
- Coordinate traffic engineering discussions related to reviews; this requires the individual to have expertise in traffic engineering subject matters.
- Oversees the developments and updates related to Traffic Engineering Standard Plans and Specifications in conjunction with the Assistant Traffic Engineering Division Administrator.
- Assists the Assistant Traffic Engineering Administrator and Traffic Engineering Program Manager with tasks to ensure that Traffic Engineering Division Programs meet goals.
- Maintains the Traffic Engineering Website
