Building Services Engineer, Mechanical Engineer
Grace Design Studios is seeking an experienced, licensed Mechanical Professional Engineer (PE) to join our growing MEP team. This individual will serve as a technical leader, providing engineering oversight, technical review, specification writing, quality control, and construction administration while supporting a wide variety of commercial, healthcare, educational, and industrial projects. This position offers the opportunity to play a key role in the continued growth and development of our MEP department while mentoring junior staff and helping establish engineering standards.
This position is available at a few select locations:
Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Phoenix, Orlando, Fort Worth, and Dallas.
- Serve as Engineer of Record and seal mechanical and plumbing construction documents.
- Perform technical QA/QC reviews of engineering documents and ensure mechanical and plumbing designs comply with project requirements, applicable codes, and industry standards.
- Design and review HVAC and plumbing systems in accordance with applicable codes and industry standards.
- Prepare and review engineering calculations, equipment selections, and system designs.
- Conduct site visits, field investigations, and existing conditions assessments.
- Provide construction administration services, including reviewing submittals, responding to RFIs, and assisting with field issues.
- Prepare and review project specifications and technical documentation.
- Mentor junior engineers and designers and provide technical guidance throughout project development.
- Participate in client meetings and coordinate with owners, architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines throughout project development.
- Compile discipline‑specific man‑hour estimates and total installed cost estimates based on client‑provided project scope. Manage and forecast man‑hour requirements and schedules associated with discipline‑specific project scope.
- Provide technical guidance and support to project teams during design and construction.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
- Licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) in Mechanical Engineering, required.
- Minimum 6 years of experience designing HVAC and plumbing systems for commercial, institutional, healthcare, or industrial facilities. Eight or more years is preferred.
- Experience performing HVAC load calculations, engineering calculations, and equipment selections.
- Experience designing both HVAC and plumbing systems for commercial, institutional, healthcare, and/or industrial facilities.
- Strong working knowledge of applicable mechanical and plumbing codes.
- Experience with construction administration and QA/QC of engineering documents.
- Revit experience is preferred but not required. Candidates with strong engineering, project management, specification writing, and technical review experience are encouraged to apply.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Strong knowledge of applicable mechanical, plumbing, and energy codes.
- Strong knowledge of commercial construction processes.
- Strong leadership, communication, project management, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
